Building your momentum to achieve your goals

As most people have experienced, achieving a health goal can be really difficult. A lot of the time this can be from someone biting off more then they can chew in terms of there exercise and diet commitments. The key is starting small and building momentum to achieve the bigger goals you may have.

The journey of achieving your health related goals is no short term process, this is going to take a considerable amount of time, so doing a 12 week challenge and burning all your motivation and effort out isn’t sustainable or for the long term it isn’t helpful.

The key is starting small, so small it is easy for you for example:

  • Doing a 10 minutes walk every day
  • Reducing carbohydrates at night time
  • Going to bed 30 minutes earlier
  • Drinking 2 more classes of water a day

Now you might just do that one thing for a few weeks until you are ready to add in a little more. The beauty of this process is you are building momentum and the habits that will allow you to achieve your health goals.

If you are not sure where to start, start with just ONE physical activity you feel like you could start doing on a daily basis and maintain. My favourite to recommend to most people is a 10 minutes walk after your lunch.

Before you know it, I find our members and clients are sustaining daily exercise habits with enjoyment. The best program at the end of the day is the one you will do!

So you can see your long term vision for your health goal, but break it down into doable chucks until you have built up the momentum.
