Reducing stress to help your immune system

It has been clearly shown that when our bodies are in a state of stress our immune system is suppressed or have less ability to fully function.

For example, when surgeons are completing a transplant surgery, the surgeon will inject the patient with stress hormones to assist the success of the immune system rejecting graft.

So how does this relate to us?

Well with the constant fear inducing news broadcasts, strict lockdowns – increase stress hormones could be increased in our bodies in turn suppressing the ability of our immune systems to function as normal.

  1. Breath work – using relaxation breathing techniques to calm the mind.
  2. Adopting a go-with-the-flow attitude. Not getting pulled down into the negativity.
  3. Exercise – exercising help the release of serotonin and dopamine which help with the reduction in stress hormones. Exercise will also help support a health immune system.
